ISSUE 13

Editor's Note:

The more i write editor's notes, the less i actually have to say about the creation of the particular issue. I don't know why. It just happens this way. There is nothing particularly interesting in putting together another issue of an online magazine. You just gather a lot of stuff, sort it out, put in some kind of sequence and then post. Why I'm telling you this - because i'm honest with you.

This issue was a long time coming mostly due to the fact that I wanted to make an issue "just like back then" but in the same time "make it new" and "make difference". Because of that i was announcing and announcing calls for submissions over and over again and it didn't really worked out.

If previously i was dealing with too many trash submissions - now i just wasn't interested in the majority of the stuff sent. Not that it was bad, it was just passable. And the thing with passable stuff is that it makes you don't care - passable stuff is toxic. And i can't give the platform for that kind of stuff.

Anyway, this issue is good. Really good. And you need to experience it for yourself.

Karen Schauber - Case Study

Karen Schauber is a seasoned Family Therapist practicing in Vancouver, British Columbia. Her earlier writing is non-fiction and details three decades of psychosocial and analytical cases. Flash Fiction is a new and welcome adventure for her. Fictional short stories are much more fun to read and write! As an emerging artist, Karen hones her craft at home and at the dog beach on the Pacific coast (when it’s not pouring out).

John Pursch - Three Prose Pieces

John Pursch lives in Tucson, Arizona. Twice nominated for Best of the Net, his work has appeared in many literary journals. Beatriz Seelaender - A MORAL PROBLEM

Beatriz Seelaender was born in 1998 in São Paulo, Brazil. In 2016 she published her first novel, in Brazilian Portuguese, and has since been trying her hand at English. Seelaender has had essays published by websites such as The Collapsar and The Manifest-Station, and her short stories can be found in Psychopomp Lit Mag, The Gateway Review and others. Her story "A Kidney Caught in Quicksand", published by Grub Street in 2017, earned recognition from the Columbia Scholastic Press Association in the categories of experimental fiction and humor writing. 

Seelaender is currently studying Literature and Languages at the University of São Paulo. 

Mendes Biondo - The song of the sand

Mendes Biondo is an Italian journalist and author. His works appeared on Visual Verse, I Am Not A Silent Poet, Literary Yard, Angela Topping Hygge Feature, Indigent A La Carte, The BeZine, Scrittura Magazine, The Song Is, Poetry Pasta and other magazines. He is one of the editors of The Ramingo's Porch along with Marc Pietrzykowski and Catfish McDaris. His first book of poems will be published soon by Pski's Porch Publishing.

Lorna Wood - Five Can Poems

Lorna Wood is a violinist and writer in Auburn, Alabama, with a Ph.D. in English from Yale. 

In 2018 she was nominated for a Pushcart Prize by Poetry South and won second prize in the 2018 Loquat Literary Festival poetry contest. In 2016 she was a finalist in the SHARKPACK Poetry Review’s Valus’ Sigil competition. 

Her work has appeared or is forthcoming in various places, including the anthologies Luminous Echoes (poems shortlisted for Into the Void Magazine’s 2016 poetry contest) and Leaves of Loquat IV (Loquat Literary Festival). Lorna has also published fiction, creative nonfiction, and scholarly articles, and she is Associate Editor of Gemini Magazine.

Lawrence Upton - Two songs

Lawrence Upton is a poet and graphic / sound artist.

His publications include: wrack (2012); and Some commentaries on Bob Cobbing (2013). He co-edited Word Score Utterance Choreography in Verbal and Visual Poetry (1998) with Bob Cobbing, with whom he also made the poem set Domestic Ambient Noise, spanning 300 pamphlets totalling more than 1800 pages (published 1994-2000) and eleven other publications.

He convenes WF Workshop in Central London, UK. He is an academic member of Athens Institute for Education and Research.

Currently writing collaboratively with Dr Tina Bass.

Claudia Turner - Conversations since I began dating myself

Claudia Turner is from Jackson, WY, currently lives in Taos, NM. Got MFA from San Francisco Art Institute and BA in literature and film from University of Oregon. She had written a book and articles for magazines and newspapers. Currently works on a personal project. Loves to travel, cook, run and create. Read “Brave New World” in high school and it’s still one of her favorite books. In fact maybe she’ll read it again right now.

AG Davis - Five Poems

AG Davis was born in Lubbock, Texas in 1984. He is a sound poet, performance artist, and author of the hypermodernist novels Bathory and Glass, both published by Abstract Editions in 2016 and 2018, respectively.

Tommasina Bianca Squadrito - Six Abstract Poems

Tommasina Bianca Squadrito lives in Palermo, had studied aesthetics and sculpture in Palermo and in Florence with Ermanno Migliorini.

She participated in 2011 at the Forfest-festival of contemporary art and music of Kromeriz, Czech Republic.

She is interested in the boundaries of the arts and collaborates with architects, musicians, actresses following my passion for a Calligraphy without writing that touches words upside down, small and hardly visible signs, other ways.

Her works were published on The new postliterate, Asemic magazine, Utsanga 7, Gamm, Ponte bianco, Slova issue 15, Zoomoozophone review 8 and other exhibitions. I have developed two web projects: http://monitulipare.blogspot.com and http://siarbariaachidi.blogspot.com

About the project:

I collect points as accents in the writing space, as accents of literary, cognitive and non-cognitive space. Freed accents. These vital points are in the atmosphere under many forms and regenerate it. And they are also ancient neumes and here, in the phrases that I write to you. And even small horizontal freed line, like an episema of the gregorian chant, that give shelter to the duration of the sounds.

Olivier Schopfer - Concrete Haiku

Olivier Schopfer lives in Geneva, Switzerland. He likes to capture the moment in haiku and photography.
