Rafael Gonzalez - Makings Buttons

Rafael González released his first cassette of experimental electronic music in 1986, at the age of 16 (Exenple by Brigada Nadie, a duo with his 13-year-old brother). He was a member of the futurist multidisciplinary group Equipo Estético Étika Makinal (or 3EM), and Spanish experimental noise band I.Q.C.M. Rafael is a prolific audio artist with numerous collaborative works as well as his solo recordings. Ética Makinal was a group of teenagers who experimented with music created with synthesisers. Their aesthetic was related to punk, noise and industrial movements, but they also referred to other times and forms – they researched the visual principles of avant-garde and they were influenced by Futurism, Dadaism and Constructivism. In spite of living in the periphery, in the isolated Asturias, they soon engaged with the emerging national scene, which had nothing to do with the famous “Movida”, and they even exchanged letters, fanzines and cassettes with groups from other countries, likes France, Italy and USA. Bill DiMichele - Garage

Little is known of the life of Bill DiMichele, the apocryphal painter/poet/musician of the early 21^st century.  He studied quantum physics with Feynman and religion with Zoroaster and Akiva.  Legends tell of him learning sand painting from the Native American shamans on the high banks of the Monongahela River.  On snow-covered mountains he contemplated the emerald tablet of Hermes, discovering the significance of the saying “as above so below”.  This is the principle that guided his work from 1975 to 2025. 

This series of paintings, which has been in progress since 1993, and now counts +/- 150 works, is called ‘Garage’.  Their intent is to open the mind, and, more importantly, the soul and the spirit.  The paintings are like higher dimensional landscapes, portraits, and languages.  It’s all there for the taking.

Julie Kim Shavin - Three poems and one image

Julie Shavin adopted the Rocky Mountains as home in 1993 (and they are still looking for their real mom). She is a classically-trained pianist who began writing music at age 10. Her degrees are in Philosophy and English. Many of her artworks are enhancements of her photographs, drawings and paintings. She has four books of poetry and is working on the next, tentatively entitled "Closet Optimist's Creed." The Pikes Peak Arts Council has conferred upon her its annual Performance Poet and Page Poet awards two years consecutively. In 2016 she won the Mark Fischer prize, out of Telluride, Colorado, and she publishes often in literary magazines. She currently serves as president of Poetry West in Colorado Springs and describes herself as a nihilist/absurdist/synesthete of the best and worst and whatsitmatteranyway sorts. She is way weirder than her stuff and hopes for soonish congruence.
